What's So Cool About Sony?
Sony’s
ImageStation
A picture is worth a thousand words. Now, with digital photography
all the rage, you can use photos in a variety of ways.
You can create online scrapbooks to share with family
and friends, you can edit pictures to capture the moment
perfectly, and you can print out as many or as few copies
as you need, and you can even get personalized gifts
created with that favorite picture. ImageStation is Sony’s
official online photo sharing and photo print service
that allows you to do all this and more.
Sites that allow visitors to upload photos to share with friends
and family are becoming increasingly popular. They save everyone
the hassle of receiving large email attachments with photos,
or the expense of printing and mailing copies to all of the
friends and family. The sites usually allow your viewers to
order their own prints if they desire.
Photo galleries are as easy to set up, as they are to view.
You send an invitation to the person you would like to see
the photos, and they will be able to access them. If your friends
and family will be ordering their own prints, you should have
available the highest quality images that you have, with 300
dpi or better being ideal. You should not crop before uploading.
Since the Internet is open to all those who have a connection
and a computer, there is always a risk of someone stealing
your images for their own use. Keep this in mind when you are
uploading images, and do not post any that you would be upset
if a stranger copied.
Sony’s ImageStation does offer free membership, however the
rules are somewhat restrictive. For example, your membership
can be deactivated if a year passes without you placing an
order. You will also not have access to high quality uploads
and your friends and family will not be able to print images.
However, the pay plans are quite reasonable, starting at a
mere $9.99 per year, so you can shop around for a deal that
works perfect for you. For example, for less than 420 a year,
you can get 100 4x6 prints, an archive CD, and unlimited access
and printing of high-resolution prints. For $30 more annually
you can also get four 8x10 prints as well. This is still a
major savings over printing images yourself.
Using Sony’s ImageStation is easy to do. Online, they offer
a tour that helps get you start with the site. First, you have
to upload your images. There is no charge for this or to create
online albums, or store your pictures online. If you choose
to order prints right away, you can do so. Prices start at
just 12 cents for a 4x6 picture with home delivery, and a variety
of sizes is available, up to a 20” x 30” print for $19.99.
You can get professionally done photo books that are printed
on high-quality glossy paper and professionally bound. You
can choose to create personalized calendars using your own
pictures, text, and special dates to remember. You can create
personalized greeting cards for that special occasion or holiday
using your own pictures and greetings. If you have compatible
Sony devices, such as a mobile phone or a PSP, you can get
your pictures sent to them to take them with you wherever you
go. Or, if you are into blogging, you can easily transfer pictures
from your album to your blog site with a few clicks. ImageStation
also offers an online community where you can share your pictures
and albums with your friends, family, and the world.
So whatever your photo need is chances are Sony ImageStation
can take care of them all at one source.
