Podcasting FAQ and Tutorials
How
Do I Profit From a Podcast?
There is definitely enough room, and enough
money to go around when it comes to broadcasters running podcasts.
Provided the people making these podcasts keep things interesting,
there will always be room. Now that Podcasting have hit an
all time high, as far as broadcasting is concerned the
need for quality material is most evident. Given the fact that there
are so many new programs and this service running virtually
24 hours a day, finding room for your average music site will
truly be a chore. This is where originality comes into play,
having material that will draw and retain an audience is key
to success. There are however, different levels of success.
If you are just fiddling around getting your feet wet in this
field, you will only need to draw a crowd if you truly desire
to. If, on the other hand, you have elected to make money off
this new fashion of broadcasting, you will definitely need
to pay attention to the small details.
So say for sake of argument that you do want to make a profit
on podcasting. How would you logically do such a thing? Well,
the answer is relatively simple; all you would need to do is
tie your podcast into your URL or web site. One of the best
ways to ensure money making from your podcast is to pay money
ahead of time to get high quality audio. You will also need
a good amount of text; this will make sure you have adequate
search results. Having just the right mix between audio, and
text will also keep people from not listening to the audio
and just focusing on the text. This is not a difficult task,
as it is said that just about everyone now a days can create
a quality podcast. It is always a good idea as well to find
sponsorships; this is done in all manners of business, and
not solely reserved for podcasting.
By
obtaining a sponsorship or a few, you can make a considerable
buck by speaking about their products. This can easily generate
money, and other sponsors will take notice. It is important
to note that you will not find a huge audience for podcasting
in the college crowd. Podcasting will likely be more received
by someone that is right in the middle of his or her career.
This will be most evident for the people who have to commute
to and from work, by way of public transportation. By someone
sitting on the train or bus, and listening to one of these
broadcasts you can bet they will pay attention to the smaller
details in your broadcast. Younger crowds are more likely to
watch a video, or listen to steamed music on a podcast, or
just their iPod in general. Many people that run podcasts about
products, and information on their sponsors really do not have
too many problems with the set up of one of these programs.
This makes them a great asset to companies trying to get the
word out about their products. People that are just starting
out can easily find some problems that come their way, and
the unfortunate part about it is that there is no real help
from such places as Google.
A great way to have income generated from podcasting is to
direct people to your web site that could be affiliated with
someone else. If for example, you have a web site about home
theater and you have many affiliate sites linked such as speaker
companies. When the person listens to your podcast, and you
direct them to your site about a specific product or a review
there is an opportunity for you to gain income by way of commission.
How this is done is simple, you merely tell people on the broadcast
about a particular product. The person will go check out your
site when they have time, from there they will see a series
of links to manufacturers. When one of these links is hit,
and a sale is made you will receive a commission for that sale.
Podcasting in this fashion is a very simple way for you to
make extra income, and not have a whole lot of fuss while doing
it. # # # # #
