Napster FAQ & How-To's
The
Napster Card
What
can you do with Napster cards, you ask? Napster cards are essential if you plan to buy songs from Napster,
and don't want to use a credit card. In essence, Napster cards
are prepaid music cards that let Napster users purchase digital
music files from the extensive Napster library. You can purchase
Napster music cards at a variety of retail locations around
the country. Retail outlets that carry Napster cards include
Target Stores, Kroger Stores, Best Buy, CVS Pharmacy stores,
and various other retail outlets and convenience stores across
the country. You can also choose to order Napster music cards
from the Internet if you wish. You can purchase Napster cards
for a variety of denominations. You can choose between Napster
cards that allow you to prepay several months’ subscription
dues, or you can simply purchase Napster music cards in specific
dollar amounts so you can download songs from Napster Light's
basic a la carte service.
Before you get started using Napster cards, you first need
to download the free Napster software, available on the Napster
site. It is relatively straightforward and intuitive to install
the free Napster software client. Simply follow the directions
and allow enough time for the software to be downloaded onto
your PC. Once you have the free Napster software successfully
downloaded onto your computer, you are now ready to redeem
your Napster music card. Simply point your clicker to the Napster
site and click on the Redeem button that is located in the
section named Cards and Codes. When you have located the section
called Cards and Codes on Napster, simply follow all the instructions
to redeem your Napster music card.
Here are some quick guidelines for using your Napster music
card on the site. First, you will have to register and enter
your Napster Card or Promo Code number in the field that is
labeled Napster Card or Promo Code. Once you have entered the
number located on the back of your Napster card, click on the
Redeem button. After you have redeemed your card, go ahead
and launch the Napster software client program. If you purchased
a Napster music card to prepay your subscription, the number
of prepaid subscription months of Napster should automatically
be updated. If you purchased a Napster music card with a specified
dollar amount, when you launch the Napster software program,
the system should automatically credit you with the specific
monetary amount. This monetary amount should be automatically
reflected when you open the Napster software program. Buying
a Napster card and putting a specific monetary account on it
allows you to purchase individual songs a la carte style from
Napster's vast holding of digital music files, over two million
tracks and counting.
If you are already a Napster member, the process of using
Napster cards is slightly different. If you are already a member,
all you have to do is simply sign into Napster as you normally
would. Click on the My Account tab that located in the top
menu bar. Next, click on Account Status. You should see a field
titled Napster Card Number or Promo Code. Simply enter the
number that is located on the back of your Napster Card into
this field. You can also enter any promo code that you may
have. After you enter your Napster card number or Promo Code,
your subscription months or monetary amount should automatically
be credited to your account.
Some confusion has arisen about whether Napster cards have
an expiration date. Does your Napster card really expire a
year after the date of purchase? Many Napster cards contain
fine print that say the card will expire in exactly one year
from the date of purchase. However, Napster assure its users
who have a Napster music card that contain this fine print,
and if they are residents of CA, CT, HI, LA, MA, ME, MT, ND,
NH, NJ, OH, OK, RI, VT, or WA, the small print can be ignored.
Napster assures its users that the Napster music card will
not expire in one year.
